Sar Pass Trek: Complete Trekking Guide

Sar Pass is a perfect journey for newcomers. It’s apt for those who want to witness all kinds of terrain. Timbers, meadows, antique townlets, or snow-covered mountains, this trail offers a diversion of guests to pedestrians. Prashant Jha, a post-graduate from BITS Pilani shares details of this well-explored journey, which lies in the Parvati vale of Himachal Pradesh.

The journey starts from Kasol, which is a haven for alpinists from around the globe, and attracts large weekend crowds; numerous of which are the megacity youth, eager for a slice of the bohemian life. To feed the excursionists, the shops are well- grazed with both musts and luxuries.

There is a plenitude of stay options – both, fund-friendly and high-end, and one can choose from Israeli, Continental, Indian, and Chinese cookeries.

An ideal journey for newcomers

• Trek through timbers, meadows, and antique townlets.

BAGS

• Pack (40-60 liters) Pack with sturdy straps and supporting frame. Rain cover for the pack is essential.

• Daypack (20 liters) It’s obligatory to carry a daypack if you choose to discharge your backpack. However, a day pack isn’t needed, If you decide to carry your pack.

FOOTWEAR

• Trekking shoes No sports shoes. Don’t wear a new shoe on a journey. It might beget pocks. Before bringing them on to the journey, wear them for a week to make them softer.

• Socks (3 dyads) 2 cotton dyads, 2 woolen dyads ( substantially to be used on campgrounds and while sleeping. Keep them dry.)

CLOTHES – REGULAR

• Trek pants (3 dyads including the bone you’re wearing) We largely plump synthetic quick-dry pants as they’re light. Plus, when it’s deep freeze you can wear one over the other. While touring a brace is what you would carry piecemeal from the worn. You could keep the third brace for your return trip. Indispensable Cotton pants with numerous pockets/ Track pants are comfortable too. Please don’t get Denim jeans, films, or 3 diggings to journey.

• Collared t-shirts (3 dyads including the bone you’re wearing) Rather light, full sleeve t-shirts. The collar and the sleeves help the sun beck on the neck and arms. Avoid loud colors that would distract catcalls and creatures.

• Full sleeve woolens (2 dyads including the bone you’re wearing) We plump coat over hair as it’s lightweight, compact, and warm.

• Thick jacket Carry 1 concave full sleeve windproof jacket/ down jacket

• Thermal inners 1 brace of featherlight, upper and lower ( voluntary)

. ACCESSORIES

• Raincoat/ wrap A featherlight wrap is preferred as it covers your pack as well from the top. A raincoat can also be used as wind evidence when needed. Enquire Indiahikes for the vacuity of burnooses at the base camp.

• Balaclava The cap must cover your cognizance and neck. You may also use scarves.

• Synthetic hand gloves Ensure that the gloves are leakproof.

• Suncap 1 brace of nice warm gloves needed coat or woolen. 1 brace of water evidence/ resistant, wind evidence gloves. You get veritably thin inner gloves currently.

• Sunglasses

OTHERS

Carry original and photocopy of government print identity cards with you ( driving license, choosers ID, etc.)

Tips & Advice

1. Avoid sports shoes. They’re ill-suited for touring. We recommend FORCLAZ 100, 500, and 600. Wear the shoes for a week previous to the journey to avoid shoe mouthfuls/ pocks on the pitch.

2. We largely plump synthetic quick-dry pants. They’re light and can be worn in layers when it gets cold. Cotton pants/ track pants are volition.

3. Jeans, films and 3/4 pants aren’t suitable for touring.

4. Light full sleeve collared t-shirts are a stylish option. Avoid round neck t-shirts which expose the neck during cold rainfall and may beget sun becks during the day.

5. We plump coat jackets over hair as it’s lightweight, compact, and warm. It’s better to subcaste your apparel with multiple light sweaters than to carry one thick heavy jacket.

6. Thermal inners are voluntary for those who are more sensitive to the deep freeze.

7. You may use scarves as a volition to balaclavas.

8. People who wear specs, choose one of these – contact lenses, print polychromatic spectacles, or if either of the below isn’t possible, wear your specs and carry a big sunglass that can be worn over your specs.
