Laylatul Qadr: Date, Importance, Benefits And Prayers

Laylat Al Qadr or Laylatul Qadr, often known as the Night of Power, is among the holiest nights in the Islamic calendar. Angel Jibreel delivered the first verses of the Holy Quran to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) this night. While the Night of Power is only one day, it has been documented as occurring on one of the last 10 odd-nights of Ramadan. The night carries immense significance in the lives of Muslims as the night gave rise to Islam as a religion.

Laylatul Qadr date in 2022

Although the special night on which Laylatul Qadr occurs is unknown, Prophet Mohammad (SAW) has instructed to seek Laylatul Qadr during the odd evenings of Ramadan’s last ten days. Thus, Laylat al Qadr is held on one of the odd nights of Ramadan’s last 10 days. Laylatul Qadr 2022 is predicted to occur on Thursday, April 28th, 2022. However, the precise date is dependent on the sighting of the Ramadan moon.

The spiritual importance of Laylatul Qadr

Several Ayahs and Hadiths in the Quran emphasize the significance of this auspicious night. Here’s a list of the spiritual importance of Laylatul Qadr:

1. Auspicious night

Good acts weigh more than any other night on this night. It is the most auspicious night of the Islamic calendar year. Every virtuous action and worship on this night equals a minimum of 83 years of worship, which is comparable to an entire lifetime if we realize its importance.

2. Previous transgressions will be absolved

Whoever spends the nights of Ramadan in prayer out of faith and in the expectation of compensation will be forgiven for his prior sins. On this night, the angels and the spirits descend on the earth with the consent of Allah. Therefore, the earth is cleansed of all evil and tragedy because it gets filled with celestial creatures of light and blessings. Supplications offered by an individual are accepted while sins are pardoned on this night.

3. Revelation of the Quran

It’s the night the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received the revelation of the Holy Quran. For all Muslims, the Holy Quran serves as guidance and light.

4. No particular date for Laylatul Qadr

The exact night of Laylatul Qadr has never been established, but mentions tell that it happens during the last 10 nights of Ramadan. There is undoubtedly significant wisdom in Allah’s (SWT) decision to keep the exact date hidden from Muslims. Part of it is so that Muslims might endeavor to find it, participate in additional worship, and continue to do so even after Ramadan draws to a close.

Celebration of Laylatul Qadr

In the last 10 days of Ramadan, mosques are decorated in preparation for the arrival of Laylat Al-Qadr. Mosques begin to welcome hundreds of worshipers in a spiritual atmosphere, and worshippers in the mosque continue to pray until Fajr (dawn) prayer.

Laylatul Qadr dua

Making a Du’a is an excellent way to prepare for Laylatul Qadr night. Don’t miss out on this chance to say a Du’a for forgiveness and Allah’s kindness (SWT). The Laylatul Qadr Du’a is a powerful prayer that can bring Allah’s selected blessings and rewards. One must say the following Du’a on Laylatul Qadr night:

Du’a: Allahumma innaka Afuwwun [Karimun ] tuhibbul `afwa fa`fu `annee

Translation: The translation of this dua in English is, “O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me” or “O Allah, You are Pardoning and love to pardon, so pardon me.”
